Trekking Experience

The alpacas we use are halter trained, gentle, sensitive and inquisitive – which leads to fun and laughter and they get as much pleasure from the trek as you will.

Trekking with us is a wonderful way to get the feel of Romney Marsh, the dykes, the farmland, crops and it is a unique time with our alpacas to learn more about them.

Alpacas make ideal partners for trekking for all ages, groups, singles, special occasions and it is great for families (children under 14 are very welcome but they must be closely supervised by a responsible adult at all times and will share an alpaca with an adult). When you come to visit the alpacas please remember we are a farm, so please do dress accordingly, suitable shoes or wellies and warm clothing as appropriate.

Enjoy our Trekking Experience

Our trekking experience includes a range of activities throughout the visit. When you arrive, you’ll meet with our team and receive an informative talk, where you’ll learn about these incredible creatures, and how to safely handle them. After which, you’ll get to meet with the Alpacas, and get your own Alpaca to walk with*.

Along with your new friend, we’ll begin a one hour trek around the beautiful countryside in and around the Haguelands. Half-way through, we’ll stop for a quick break where you’ll get an opportunity to hand feed the Alpacas, and capture the moment on camera to make it a trek to remember.

After the photos and feeding, we’ll head back to the farm, where you can spend the remainder of your time taking photos of, feeding and interacting with the rest of the herd.

*Note that children under 14, for health and safety reasons, are unable to walk their own Alpaca. However, provided the accompanying adult has a firm grip, a child may share the same lead so as to not miss out. Children between 14 and 17 may walk their own Alpaca, but an accompanying adult must be present at all times.

Want to meet and learn about these gorgeous creatures without the trek?

Why not organise a Meet & Greet? Great for those too young to walk the Alpaca’s or unable to walk long distances. You’ll get to meet, feed and take photos with the Alpaca’s – all the while learning about these unique and gentle creatures.

This is a truly amazing experience – we hope to see you soon!

One adult per child to supervise ideally.

A message from Annie

We would just like to say how delighted and overwhelmed we are at how popular our trekking experience has been. It’s fantastic to see you all.

We appreciate that the treks can become booked up very quickly, so thank you for your patience whilst we work on bringing you new experiences on the farm. If trekking isn’t available as soon as you’d hoped for, we wouldn’t want you to miss out, so we do also have the option of Meet & Greet available which allows you to get up close and personal with the alpacas.

We absolutely love reading every one of your TripAdvisor reviews and are so appreciative of everyone’s amazing support; it really means a lot to us that you enjoy your visits to our farm.

We look forward to seeing you again soon,

Annie x
